this advert is very very clever if only playing on the shock value of all the old bigots out there, Wake up theres wars being fought and aeroplanes being blown from the sky but isnt it a sad world when two men kissing causes such an outcry.
Hey, thanks for commenting! I think society has come a long way in that not only are such adverts made for something as prosaic as a sandwich spread, they are actually broadcast, and before the watershed at that (Gawd! Won't somebody think of the children!).
Of course you can bet that there will be the usual few irate letters to the Advertising Standards Authority, but the reality is that for most people, seeing two blokes kiss on telly raises an eyebrow at most. The shock value is quite minimal.
Obviously, I look forward to the day when there is no shock value at all, and this is just seen as an every day scenario, with more people commenting on the fact that 'mom' has a Brooklyn accent rather than that he is a bloke.
Until that time, we're here, we're queer, get used to it!
